A real choice before optional loading

QubitWire applies the same optional-technology controls globally. Necessary delivery and security remain active. Analytics, YouTube players, Google Maps and TradingView each have a separate choice. They remain off until you select them. “Decline optional” and “Accept optional” are available together; “Customize choices” lets you choose individually.

Your privacy choices reopens these choices. Saving a withdrawal stops the affected feature; the page reloads when needed to remove already-loaded provider code. A withdrawal does not undo earlier processing or delete records held by providers.

Necessary and requested features

Page delivery and photographs

Website files and some licensed People photographs hosted by Wikimedia load to display the requested page. Their servers receive connection information. Optional player and tracking choices do not prevent ordinary page and image delivery; see the Privacy notice and the recorded image credits.

Security and sign-in

Hosting services can set security cookies, including Cloudflare’s __cf_bm, to protect requests. Sign-in uses the authentication provider’s own session mechanisms. These are distinct from optional analytics.

Privacy choices

qubitwire.privacy.v2 records each choice, a timestamp and the policy version for up to 180 days. qw_privacy_refused can preserve a refusal if local storage is unavailable. Legacy analytics choices remain separate but no longer authorize optional loading on their own.

Requested saves and settings

Saved articles, videos, events, People comparisons, company follows, shortlists and display settings use first-party storage when you use those features. They remain until removed, cleared or evicted. Signed-in company follows are also stored in your account.

Voting

qw_video_voter is a random identifier set when you submit a vote, for up to one year. The cookie is HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax and Secure on HTTPS. Viewing vote totals does not create a new voting identifier.

Optional analytics

Google Analytics is loaded only after analytics permission. _ga and related first-party cookies distinguish browsers and sessions. Our configuration requests a 180-day cookie life without renewing that life on each visit, disables Google signals and advertising personalization, and strips query strings and fragments from custom page measurements. Session storage prevents duplicate engagement events. No form contents, email addresses, vote directions or free-text search queries are included in our custom analytics events.

Global Privacy Control keeps Analytics, external players, maps and market widgets off even if an older saved choice permitted them. External links remain available; reading history stays separately selectable. Advertising-storage, advertising-user-data and advertising-personalization settings stay denied. The site does not activate a separate advertising-tracker category through “Accept optional.”

External content

Video players

When selected, the YouTube privacy-enhanced player connects to Google/YouTube. Privacy-enhanced mode is not a promise of zero data collection. Video thumbnails also connect to YouTube only after Video players permission. Before permission, the library keeps its titles and links and displays a local placeholder.

Maps

When selected, Google receives the displayed event location and connection information. The map does not request your device location.

Market data

When selected, TradingView loads its scripts, charts and price widgets and receives ordinary connection and widget information. Company research remains available without market data.

Providers may receive an IP address, browser/device details and their own identifiers when an optional connection is enabled. Provider cookies and retention depend on their services and your settings. We cannot remove a cookie on a separate provider’s domain. Use the provider’s controls or your browser to manage those records. Choosing an external link opens that service under its own policies, independently of our embed preference.

Reading history on this device

Automatic reading and return history has a separate optional preference. With permission, your browser remembers recent articles, reading position and return activity. Requested saved lists are separate. Turning history off stops further automatic storage; existing history is preserved until you reset it in Your Updates or clear browser data.

Persistence, expiry and browser limits

Choices apply to this browser and origin, not every device. Private browsing or clearing site data may prompt a new choice. Expired or unrecognized consent is not treated as permission. If storage is blocked, the interface tells you when a choice cannot be saved; optional connections default off on a new visit.

Browsers may remove data sooner than the stated maximum. Older storage values can remain physically present after they stop being treated as current. Clearing browser data also removes local saves. Our controls do not erase provider records or unsubscribe you from email. See the retention disclosures and request route.
