SEALSQ says its QS7001 V1 secure element completed Common Criteria EAL5+ technical evaluation at SERMA. Its October 27 release says remaining site audits are scheduled for January 2027, after which the evaluation report would go to ANSSI for formal certificate issuance. Formal certification remains a 2027 target.[1][2]

This is an issuer-reported laboratory milestone. QubitWire has not inspected SERMA's underlying evaluation report or an issued ANSSI certificate. A buyer should distinguish completed testing from a certificate covering the precise product and configuration required for procurement.

Editorial interpretation

For procurement, the useful unit is a precisely identified product configuration. A certificate, when issued, would need to be read for the version, evaluated functions and conditions it covers. A related family name or a planned successor should not silently inherit that scope. This is a way to read future evidence, rather than a determination that the announced product meets a buyer’s requirements.

The status sequence also deserves to remain visible. A laboratory test result, completion of an evaluation process and formal certificate issuance answer different questions. A later update should name the document that changed the status and explain what remains outside it. That would give readers a concrete reason to revise their assessment instead of treating repeated announcements as interchangeable proof of completion.

Finally, evaluation scope and deployment context should be compared directly. A component can be part of a larger system whose software, keys and update process introduce additional dependencies. A useful engineering review would identify those interfaces and the party responsible for each. It would then distinguish the evidence about the component from the evidence needed to assess the assembled product.

How to read the evidence and dates

An announcement records what an organization stated. An experiment reports an observation. A simulation or resource estimate depends on its assumptions. QubitWire’s analysis connects these sources; the labels are not quality scores.

Published is the article’s first QubitWire publication. Updated marks a substantive content change. Sources checked records a review of the underlying evidence. An older paper can support a new explanation, and another press release about the same work is not independent replication.
