People make the installation’s scale legible

Five people stand in front of tall equipment enclosures at the Ikerbasque IBM Quantum System Two installation. The photograph records an institutional moment in October 2025. It is useful because human figures make the height and presence of the installed system understandable without a technical scale bar.

An inauguration photograph also carries a different purpose from a laboratory test image. It documents people and equipment together at a particular event. It does not establish the machine’s workload, its operating state at that moment or the contribution of each person in the frame.

The lesson for readers is to use the human scale honestly. A large quantum installation requires room, access and an organization around it. Those visible facts can introduce questions about operations and research access. Technical performance belongs in linked system documentation with its own date and measurement definitions.

What does the photograph establish about size?

People and the enclosure can be compared within the same frame. Exact dimensions still need a stated scale or technical specification.

Does appearing beside a machine identify a person’s role?

No. Names and responsibilities require an event caption or another reliable source. Avoid inferring them from position in the group.

How should the date be used?

Label the October 2025 event clearly. Do not present the photograph as evidence that a later upgrade was already installed.
