Quantum technology is also about measuring the world. In this Royal Institution lecture, recorded in November 2023 with the National Physical Laboratory and uploaded in January 2024, Jan-Theodoor Janssen explains sensors for magnetic fields, gravity and motion. The longer format gives the physical mechanisms room to breathe, including atomic magnetometry and atom interferometry. Treat the devices and development plans as a record of that period.
