RIKEN Opens ROQUO Platform for Quantum and HPC Research

RIKEN says ROQUO, its JHPC-quantum GPU supercomputer, has entered operation on the Kobe campus, adding infrastructure for quantum and high-performance computing research. Hybrid applications need classical simulation, control and data processing alongside quantum devices. ROQUO's scientific goals include tightly coupled quantum-HPC integration.

RIKEN lists integration with Fugaku, IBM Quantum System Two ibm_kobe and Quantinuum's Reimei among those goals.

The announcement establishes that the GPU platform is operating. It does not establish that tight integration is complete or that an application has achieved a measured quantum-HPC advantage. Demonstrated workflows, accompanied by communication, scheduling and performance measurements, would show how the planned connections work in practice.
