A June 22 US executive order gives federal agencies concrete deadlines for organizing their migration to post-quantum cryptography. It calls for agency migration leads within 30 days, assigning responsibility for the planning work alongside deadlines for covered systems.

High-value and high-impact federal systems within the order's scope must migrate key establishment by December 31, 2030, and digital signatures by December 31, 2031.

These are defined federal requirements, subject to law and appropriations. They do not impose a blanket deadline on every private system. Agency guidance, inventories of covered systems and implementation milestones will show how agencies put the requirements into practice.
