PNNL researchers combined NWQSim simulations with Azure resource estimates to examine HHL linear-solver workloads in power-grid and heat-transfer problems.

What remains unresolved

That study models error-corrected resources; it does not execute a commercially useful fault-tolerant application. Estimator outputs change with the chosen hardware and error assumptions.

The next question to watch

How closely will increasingly realistic resource models and provider experiments converge on reproducible application requirements?
