TECHNOLOGY & ACCESS

What it does. Where it fits.

Superconducting nanowire detectors with cryogenic cooling and room-temperature driver electronics.

Who should look closer

Teams that need low-noise photon counting and can accommodate cryogenic equipment and periodic maintenance.

QubitWire’s editorial assessment of practical fit.

Configured detector systems

Specification and pricing are arranged with the supplier. Eos packages include cooling and electronics; maintenance requirements should be included in procurement.

DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE

What has been demonstrated

A Vienna-led study operated a 248 km fiber link using Single Quantum detectors. Its roughly 38 ps timing figure includes detector and time-tagger contributions; it is not a standalone detector specification.

What remains unresolved

Detection efficiency, timing jitter and count-rate limits depend on configuration. The cited network result measures a complete experimental setup and does not independently validate every current detector specification.

The next question to watch

Can a specified detector configuration sustain required efficiency and timing at the application’s actual count rate and maintenance cycle?

A research question, not a promised milestone.
