David Deutsch
1985 · A universal quantum computer
Deutsch formulated a quantum generalization of the universal computing machine and explored its relation to the Church–Turing principle. The paper connected questions about computation to the laws governing physical systems, rather than treating computation as independent of physics.

Alain Aspect
1982 · Bell tests with changing measurement settings
With Jean Dalibard and Gérard Roger, Aspect published a Bell-inequality experiment using time-varying analyzers. The work sharpened experimental tests of entanglement and the distinction between quantum correlations and local classical explanations. It was part of a sequence of experiments, with explicit experimental limitations.

Anton Zeilinger
1998 · Entangling photons that never interacted
Zeilinger, Jian-Wei Pan, Dik Bouwmeester and Harald Weinfurter demonstrated entanglement swapping. A joint measurement on one photon from each of two pairs projected the remaining photons into an entangled state, although those photons had not interacted.

Charles H. Bennett
1993 · Quantum teleportation
Bennett, Brassard and four coauthors proposed transferring an unknown quantum state using shared entanglement, a measurement and classical communication. The protocol established a reusable quantum-information primitive and does not permit faster-than-light signaling or the copying of an arbitrary unknown state.
