QuEra Reports AI-Written Software Recovering Laser Locks in Seconds

When a quantum computer's laser lock is disturbed, restoring it can require specialist attention. QuEra says conventional control software developed by Claude recovered that lock on a dedicated testbed. Stable laser control is an operating requirement for neutral-atom computers, so reducing those interventions could simplify maintenance.
In QuEra's account, the controller succeeded in 695 of 700 timed trials across seven fault types. Most recoveries took under six seconds. Engineers supervised the software's development.
The finished controller is inspectable software; an AI model is not making its runtime control decisions. The results are company reported, with independent reproduction still unestablished. Broader deployment and reproduction would help show whether that reliability carries over to other subsystems and operating conditions.
