A practical way to show your skills
Choose a small public problem and write a comparison plan. Define the classical baseline, resources, stopping rule and reporting format. Implement what you can validate and report negative or inconclusive results honestly.
A concise research note with assumptions, baselines and limitations is useful. Include enough detail for another person to reproduce a numerical result. Make clear whether a claimed improvement concerns asymptotic behavior, a simulation or measured hardware; they are not interchangeable.

- What research question is the team trying to resolve?
- How are classical baselines selected?
- What counts as a useful result when an experiment does not support the original hypothesis?
A useful first-month focus: Reproduce one internal or public baseline, understand the team’s evidence standards and agree on a tractable first research question.
Keep the limits in view
A toy demonstration does not establish practical advantage. Distinguish theoretical, simulated and measured results, and use the employer’s education requirements.
